Changing the Filter
Filter Change - Step # 1 - Open and check
Under normal environmental conditions you only need to change the filter once every one to two years. We recommend you perform the check described below every three months until you have a pretty good idea of the time a filter cartridge will last in your environment.
Unplug the unit and open the front cover.
- If the blue side of the filter (the pre-filter) is dirty, it can be cleaned with hand-held vacuum to remove dirt from its fibers. This will prolong the life of the filter cartridge.
- If the white (HEPA) side of the filter cartridge is dark gray in color, you should change the filter cartridge. Proceed to the next step. (You can order spare filters by clicking here.)

Filter Change - Step # 2 - Replace the cartridge
- Remove the old filter and throw it away.
- Remove the wrapping from the new room air filter cartridge.
- Remove the cardboard cover on the back side of the cartridge. (It detaches in the same way that you open a box of tissues.)
- Place the new filter in its proper position.

Filter Change - Step # 3 - Close the unit
Put the front cover back on and begin operating again. That's it. No other filter maintenance is required.

Changing the UV Bulb
UV Bulb Change - Step #1 - Preparatory
You should check that the bulb is operating periodically. You can do this by looking down through the top of the unit, through the fans. If you see a blue-ish glow, the bulb is still working. (You may need to do this in a room where the lights are dimmed.) NOTE: The bulb typically lasts 12-15 months.
If you determine that the bulb is not working, proceed to step #2.
UV Bulb Change - Step #2 - Remove old bulb and replace it with the new one
- Unplug the unit and open the front cover. Remove the air filter cartridge.
- The ends of the bulb are held in place by two very simple plastic clamps. Gently snap their covers open. (The one on the left snaps over to the left, the one on the right, to the right. It won't take much force to open them.)
- Remove the expired UV lamp. Handle the UV bulb on both ends in order to avoid breaking it.
- Press the new bulb into the UV bulb slot. The metal pins poking out each end of the bulb should be firmly in contact with the metal conductors inside each clamp. Close the plastic clamps over the bulb on each end.
- Place the filter cartridge back in its compartment (with the blue side facing out) and put the front cover back on. The air purifier is now ready for operation again.
Bulb with both clips closed.
Bulb with the left clip open.
(Make sure both clips are open before extracting the bulb.)
