The XJ-3000C allows you to select one of three levels of ozone to match your cleaning need or keep it turned off while the other features are operating. This is how you'll use the purifier most of the time. During the time a room is being treated with ozone, people and pets should avoid using the space. Many heavily promoted air purifiers sold to consumers produce ozone whenever the unit is running -- leading to negative reports in the media. Some allow you to lower the level of ozone, but in so doing compromise the purifier's overall effectiveness, and you still can't turn it off completely. Usage example: A room develops a mildew smell. Place the New-Aire XJ-3000C in that room, set the ozone control to the High position, set the XJ-3000-C's timer for four hours, leave the room and close the door. After four hours the XJ-3000C will turn itself off completely. 30 minutes later the high concentration ozone in the room will have broken down into pure oxygen and the room will be ready for use. It is likely that the mildew smell will be completely gone.
Other odors ozone can be effective against include tobacco, burned food and pet odors.
